Mark has held a variety of executive and non-executive roles in high growth international technology businesses and has achieved a number of successful exits.
His career began at Kymata, a venture capital backed business supplying optical microchips to the telecommunications market. Kymata grew 100 fold in three years, through organic growth and two international acquisitions, before being sold to Alcatel (€120m).
Following a role with Silecs, a venture capital backed semiconductor business, Mark joined Insensys, a venture capital backed instrumentation business. Following three acquisitions and rapid organic growth, the aerospace, defence and renewable energy divisions were sold to Moog (£17m) and the oil & gas division was sold to Schlumberger.
Mark then became CEO of WFS Technologies, a privately owned business providing underwater radio communication and navigation systems to the oil & gas, renewable energy, defence and consumer markets. WFS assembled a portfolio of over 200 patents, which was licensed to accelerate market penetration.
In addition to CEO roles, Mark has held a variety of other board roles including non-executive and advisory board positions. Mark holds an engineering degree from Cambridge University, a PhD from Southampton University and an MBA from Edinburgh University. He is a fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Out of hours, Mark enjoys just about any sport that involves water, and spending time with his family.
