Advisory Board Launch

The Spectrum Team is delighted to announce the formation of its Advisory Board comprising of seasoned industry professionals and entrepreneurs across a wide range of business sectors. Advisory Board members will work with the Spectrum Team on deals and opportunities in sectors where they have deep seated business knowledge as well as helping to find new opportunities by virtue of their own personal networks and industry contacts. We believe this provides Spectrum with genuine sector and business expertise to sit alongside and complement the existing wide ranging advisory skills, experience and know-how in the team.

Nigel Tipple, who has been involved with Spectrum since the firm was established,  takes on the role of Chairman of the Advisory Board and commented:  “The last 18 months have been a tough period for M&A generally, but especially so for a start-up boutique advisory firm. The Partners have stuck to their task and I have been impressed with the manner in which they have driven this business to become market leading in just a short space of time. The advent of the Advisory Board is further testament to their vision for regional corporate finance, and I have every confidence that it will be a great success.” Nigel has worked across a broad range of sectors including shipping, leisure and packaging. He spent his early career in the City working for Merchant Banks; since then has led four private equity backed deals as CEO, and currently holds three Non-Executive Director roles.

The Advisory Board comprises seven other individuals alongside Nigel:

Peter Brooks specialises in business and support services and private equity.  Peter is a highly successful private equity Managing Director with 25 years’ experience of buying, selling, analysing and investing in unquoted companies.

David Cole specialises in the healthcare sector.  David has 29 years’ experience in health, social care, and education, in public and private sector organisations. David started his career as a mental health nurse for the NHS before moving into Board roles with private equity backed business in the sector.

Mike Evans specialises in the financial services sector.  Mike is a very experienced, well-rounded financial services Chairman and Non-Executive Director.  Currently Chairman of Hargreaves Lansdown plc (FTSE 100), financially qualified (FIA) and with significant strategic and operational executive experience.

Iain Mckenzie specialises in the telecommunications, software and services sectors.  Iain has successfully established, developed, grown and exited a number of businesses in pioneering areas of technology.

Roger Pedder specialises in the retail and consumer sectors. Roger has enjoyed a varied managerial and entrepreneurial career initially in retail but latterly as a Non-Executive Chairman or Director of family or private equity companies.

Heather Savory specialises in the high technology, regulatory and public sectors.  Heather is a successful executive with a solid commercial track-record and extensive board and senior management experience in entrepreneurial and high technology businesses, consulting and central government.  Heather chairs the Government’s Open Data User Group (ODUG) providing advice to the Data Strategy Board.

Mark Volanthen specialises in the technology, energy, aerospace and defence sectors.  Mark has held a variety of executive and non-executive roles in high growth international technology businesses and has achieved a number of successful exits.
